November Overview

Fixed stars have a pervasive influence in November. Mercury resumes forward motion while circling the lucky star Spica, the Virgin's wheat sheaf, on the 2nd. This is favorable for promoting talents and for gaining patrons and recognition through achievements in literature and cultural media. No sooner does Venus enter Libra than Mercury moves into Scorpio. The arts and sciences continue to benefit through the splendor of Venus in her own sign. The New Moon on November 9th spreads complex scientific or magickal ideas like butter across the toasty minds of the mass public.

On November 15th, Mars retrogrades while aligned with the Dog Star, Sirius. Mars triggers the protective and defensive qualities of Sirius, combined with the clannishness and insularity of Cancer. Apply both practical and magickal forms of protective security to the home and family. Place protective charms in automobiles.

Martial energy is activated as Mercury forms a Grand Trine with Mars and Uranus from November 19-21st. This unabashedly masculine trigon gives the old gods and heroes a new look. Men in the public eye enact mythic roles, and machismo-driven archetypes bust out all over the place. All hail the buff and studly! Mars 2.0 is smart, technology-savvy, and emotionally in tune, yet still a courageous warrior capable of impressive feats in battle. Loincloths are optional.

The Sun enters Sagittarius on the 22nd. The Full Moon on November 24th coincides with the Uranus direct station. It's a good time to redefine personal and social roles. Old models of organization are replaced with fresh systems. The power of mass communication gains clout by working both ways: the masses talk back to the moguls. The feminine touch brings a measure of comfort and gentility as the month ends. Venus trines mystic Neptune and lights up Spica as the Moon sings a lullaby to Mars and Sirius. Unusual or nontraditional pairings and mergers are surprisingly appealing. Put a little mango in the turkey!

November Highlights
November 1: Mercury direct station in Libra conjunct Spica. Do spells to attract patrons or financial assistance; or to request aid from beneficent ancestors.

November 2: Moon in Leo contacts Jupiter and Mercury. Good alternate date for Samhain gatherings; spells for inspiration and gain through commerce.

November 9: New Moon in Scorpio November 15: Mars retrograde conjunct Sirius.

November 19-21: Mercury trine Uranus trine Mars. Opens channels of information and inspiration; automatic writing, I-Ching, and divination by lots or dice favored. Male rites of passage; drumming circles.

November 22: Sun enters Sagittarius.

November 24: Full Moon in Gemini, Uranus direct station. Complicated, fuzzy aspects make this unsuitable for spell casting.

November 26: Venus-Spica trine Neptune. Spells for success in the arts and sciences. Use intriguing combinations of herbs or symbols to attract luck. Meditate on the Star card, or put this card under pillow for inspiring dreams.
