7 Steps to Joining a Coven

Warding Wackiness at Work

I Roomed with a Muggle

Not the Last Generation
Neo-Paganism today doesn't need turf wars. That is the human mistake we cannot afford to repeat. The only way to avoid it is to realize that responsibility and strength are not finite; they are not scraps to be squabbled over, but gifts that multiply and manifest when shared — a lot like love.

The indulging oneself of personal, petty, selfish satisfactions — of getting back, of holding on to 'power' and not sharing it, of disenfranchising others, of treating someone else trying to build something as competitors to be broken — has to stop, and stopping it is a value independent of faith, credo, or religion. Cooperation is a human value. We need, for our gods, and for ourselves, to create a culture of empowerment, where we share the load, where we teach what we know, and where we take care of each other rather than looking out for only our own turf.

The New Year is coming up, whether you follow the Harvest or Julian calendar, it's pretty much the same energy. The year is getting cooler. For many of us, this is our New Year. So I ask all of you, seriously and completely, with my whole heart, to make a New Year's Resolution. Accept your place in the great dance of teacher to student. Promise to carry out your responsibilities with joy and dignity and honor as you move through this circle once again. Promise to build rather than tear down, and to create more power and light for people to partake of. We're not the last generation of Pagans. Let's promise to remember that as well.
